Everything You Need To Know About Telehealth

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of video streaming technology to deliver medical care remotely to patients.

How does physical therapy telehealth work?

At Resurgence Physical Therapy, we use HIPAA-compliant video streaming technology to evaluate, diagnose, and treat various conditions and injuries. We will send you a link via text message or email, providing access to the video streaming platform. Using this link, you will enter a video conference where you can see and speak with your physical therapist.

What can I expect during my session (before, during, and after)?

Before your telehealth physical therapy session, we will send all paperwork and request required information via email. You can fill out the paperwork at your convenience and return it to us electronically. This information will be reviewed by your physical therapist in order to gain a better understanding of your problem or condition.

During your initial session, your physical therapist will review your medical history, take you through specific movements and tests to diagnosis the problem, create a treatment plan, and answer any questions that you may have.

Following your session, you will receive a follow up email with pertinent information, links, articles, and/or demonstrational videos to assist with your treatment plan. You will be able to follow up with any questions that may have slipped your mind during your session as well.

What are the benefits of telehealth?

There are many advantages to using telehealth. Just to name a few:

  • No transportation problems or toll/gas expenses

  • More convenient scheduling to fit your lifestyle

  • You can continue to progress your plan even while travelling or homebound

  • Weather is never an issue

6 Tips for a better telehealth visit.

We recommend the following for the best telehealth experience:

  • Ensure a quiet space where you have room to move around.

  • Make sure you have a good Wi-Fi connection and any unnecessary programs on your computer or phone are closed.

  • Check the battery life on your device or make sure it is plugged into a power source.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that you can move and exercise in.

  • Have necessary equipment. We will email you recommendations with any specifics before your session; however, we always recommend that you have a towel, a firm chair with a back, and any exercise equipment you may have on hand.

  • Have the ability to place your camera/device at three different levels: floor, waist, and chest height.
